Ukraine were quick to gain a stranglehold on possession in Munich but failed to seriously test Romania goalkeeper Florin Niță. In contrast, Romania were clinical in front of goal, with Razvan Marin's first-time strike from 30 yards putting them ahead. Nicolae Stanciu then produced a goal of the tournament contender, sweeping home a low drive to double Romania's lead.
Ukraine showed some fight after the break but could not find a way past a resolute Romanian defense. Razvan Marin put the icing on the cake in the second half with a powerful header, sealing a 3-0 victory for Romania.
The result leaves Romania in a commanding position at the top of Group E, while Ukraine are left licking their wounds and facing an uphill battle to qualify for the knockout stages.
