World Snooker Championship Table Resurfaced After Activists Protest

Resurfacing

A snooker table that was doused with powder by a Just Stop Oil activist has been resurfaced and is back in play at the World Championships in Sheffield, England.

Attempted Gluing

The incident occurred on April 20, when two activists, Louis McKechnie and Emily Brocklebank, disrupted the competition by jumping on the table and covering it with orange powder. Brocklebank also attempted to glue herself to the table but was stopped by security.

Arrests

Both activists were arrested and charged with causing criminal damage. McKechnie has been found guilty and sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, while Brocklebank's case is still pending.

Security Concerns

The incident has raised concerns about the security at the World Championships and other sporting events. The World Snooker Tour has said it is reviewing its security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
